My husband is very sick -- he won't go to the hospital?

He is wringing with sweat and cannot get out of bed. I cant really tell if he has a fever. His skin has always felt hot to me. He vomited once this morning. I think it's some kind of infection or flu bug, but since he is sweating does he really need to go to the hospital? I thought that if you have a very high fever, once you start sweating your are out of the danger zone.

Also, how can I tell if he has a very high fever by just touching his forehead?

Should I take him to the hospital even if he is sweating? Thanks

This could be a number of things wrong with him. I would imagine that he is running a fever if he is sweating. Give him some Advil or Tylenol to break the fever!! That is step one. If it continues to get worse and he still refuses to go to the hospital I would call 911 and have an ambulance to come out and just get him. Very high fevers could cause bodily damage even death if so high!

you hsould take him, just cuz he's sweating doesnt mean the fever is gone. let alone whatever he has. what i would do is call an ambulence since he isnt willing to go. i would have him go just to make sure, since he can't get out of bed. but if you really want to make sure go to a local pharmacy %26amp; get a thermometer. then call your DOCTOR and tell him whats going on and he can help.
Reply:If you are truly concern call for an ambulance.

Get a thermometer take his temp.

rub him down with acho-rub if in fact he does have a fever.
Reply:phone your doctor and explain what is going on. if you can't get an appointment right away then give your hubby lots of fluid, a couple of ibuprofin, a rubdown with rubbing alcohol which will cool him some.

keep in touch with your g.p. and follow his instructions.
Reply:He could have a touch of the flu but honestly unless he has a deficient immune system, there is not much the hospital will do because you really just have to let a virus run it's course.

Keep him hydrated with clean, clear, water (no soda, juice or flavored water). Give him a clear broth like a chicken stock. Because he's sweating he has probably lost a lot of sodium and the broth will replace it. To cool him down apply a cold compress to his forehead and inside of his wrists or if he's well enough to stand up have him take a cool shower. Let him get plenty of rest and give him some Tylonol for the fever, aches and pains.

Sweating and vomiting are common symptoms of colds and flus so there is really no need to worry because a healthy adult can usually recover with no medical intervention. If he starts vomiting blood or has dry heaves, you'd want to take him to the hospital. Dry heaves although usually not life threatening can cause ribs to break from the pressure put on them.
Reply:If your husband is ill, and you, his wife, know he is ill, then by

all means, get medical help.

There are many things that can cause the symptoms your

husband has.....some not so serious and some very, very

serious.

Take him to your doctor asap or to a place for emergency

care. They can determine what is causing his problems, and

it is always best to be SAFE than sorry. GO NOW.

All the best,

Doris
Reply:You put your forehead to his forehead. That way you can tell if he has a fever.

If his symptoms have not changed by the time you read this, get him in the car and take him to the emergency. It is better to be sure than sorry. Whether his sweating stops or not is not the issue, he has symptoms which could be serious.

I would suggest that after this is over you buy a thermometer that just slips under the tongue, then you can always tell if somebody has a temperature. It is always a good thing to have handy.
Reply:dont wait

take him to the hospital
