My father sweats really fast, help?

He claims that he works outside (we are in California) in the garden for a couple of minutes and he already sweats a lot. Is this normal? What can he do? Is it a problem?

It would depend on which area on his body is perspiring. Some times, aside from obesity, naturally overactive sweat glands can cause a person to perspire. Its known as hyperhidrosis and does not affect many people. What he can do is get some drying solution or talcum powder to stop the excessive sweating. However, it does not work for severe sweating. In such cases, Botox or an operation to remove sweat glands may help.

It is not a serious or health-threatening physical problem. People who have this medical condition usually face embarrassment and can even suffer from severe depression and low-esteem. However, your father would not have physical problems, unless it is a side-effect that is triggered by other undetected problems like heart problems, and he should get a checkup in case.

Good health to you and your father!

Sweating too much over a short period of time can be from certain medications, being overweight, a heart problem, etc.

Best to tell him to see a doctor.
